Fine Art - The Alternate
These “Alternative prints” are part of a Van Dyke brown and Cyanotype workshop that was held at the College a few months ago. These processes are straight out of the History books and use the sun to create the exposure. The results are never the same and no two prints identical.
There’s something about printing images that fills my essence with elation, the thrill of not knowing what is going to come out is an extension of the thrill that one has when making a great photograph… I use the term “MAKE” because images that move us generally contain certain photographic components.
These digital images in their infant stage are converted into A4 litho negatives, they are then placed on top off acid free fine art paper which is pre-coated in a sensitive solution. It is then exposed under UV light.
The results are spontaneous and erratic, each print has it´s own personality.
I use these alternative processes habitually in my end products to clients.
These specific prints are printed onto A3 Fabriano Artistico using the Van Dyke Brown and Cyanotype processes.

Hi Bev. your work is quite inspiring to say the least. You have been my co teacher with Nicole in the "Elements 9" photoshop, which really opened and taken my photoshop to another higher level. Thank you very much indeed

Hello Bev.
Your work is really unique and holds the viewer's senses especially the Cyanotype and Van Dyke images. Would be good to have such a workshop added to the CODP's curriculum, if not already.
